God of Peace

July 13, 2020

There are a lot of titles and names used throughout Scripture for God. These names and titles are all used to teach us something about who our God is and what His character is like.

One that has resonated and comforted my heart recently comes from Romans 15:33, where the apostle Paul calls God, the God of peace.

"May the God of peace be with all of you. Amen." Romans 15:33

This is so amazing because it is a reminder that God doesn’t just give us peace, but He is peace. God is not just handing out peace at random times or when we pray for it, but He is the God of peace - meaning that the peace we are all so desperately searching for is found only in Him.

There is a parable that Jesus tells in order to show us the extent of God’s love for His children. In it Jesus compares the reality that even sinful father’s will take care of their children when they are in need so how much more will our Heavenly Father take care of us and provide for us when we go to Him.

“If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Luke 11:13

Jesus teaches us that when we come to our Heavenly Father He will not turn us away. In fact He will give us the gifts that we need.

With so much going on and swirling around us everyday, we need peace. We need peace for our hearts, peace for our minds, peace for our relationships.

And our Heavenly Father is the God of peace. He will not turn you away, He will not dismiss you - instead He will give you the peace that you need for each and every day.
